Software for Creating a Tutorial Video

Software tutorials are often presented as a screencapture video in which someone interacts with the software and narrates key points. Screencapture software is software that captures interactions on a screen or monitor. There are sceencapture options built into some operating systems, like Screenshot on Mac OS and the Snipping Tool in Windows. There are also many free or low-cost screencapture and video editing tools you can use to create your video. Your district may provide access to some of these. Use applications approved by your district.

Screencapture videos show things in action. There are times when you may not need that type of video. You can create video-like presentations for times when you are presenting information and not demonstrating a process. These can be created with widely available presentation software, like Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides. PowerPoint is especially easy to record narration and export as a video file.
