Features & Directions Used in This Course

There are places in this course where you will be directed to interact with a device through a menu. A common way of indicating the steps in a menu is by using >. You might think of it as the "greater than" symbol. For example, if you are directed to perform the three steps to search your full browsing history in the Chrome web browser, it can be illustrated like this:

Select the History menu > Show Full History > enter a search term in the Search History field

Like many courses, this one contains information that is important and information that is supplemental. What's new information for one person may already be known by someone else. Some people may want to know more about certain topics and so may want to review the supplemental information. You determine whether you need to review the supplemental information or not. One reason you may want to review supplemental information is it covers a topic you have little knowledge or experience with. Or it might be something you are especially interested in.

Important information is presented in plain text. Like this text you're reading. You may already know some of it or you may not.

Identify Supplemental Information

Supplemental information is often presented in a table with a blue background. Supplemental information is also often placed at the bottom of a screen. Use it if it is helpful to you.

Information in a table of any other color is NOT supplemental. It's important information.
