Objective 4: Incorporating Professional Writing Skills

Any writing you do as a Digital Ambassador should be professional. You may create tutorials, handouts, or other aids to share with people to learn about common technology strategies. You may write about how to use a specific software or hardware resource. You may also write emails to some of the people you have worked with. The emails can be a follow-up to any sessions you’ve had with them or can simply thank people for working with you.

There are entire courses on professional writing. Some colleges and universities even offer degrees in professional writing! This module is going to focus on the essentials you should keep in mind whenever you are asked to complete writing as a Digital Ambassador. These essentials include:

  • Using a professional tone and style;
  • Writing clearly and completely; and
  • Using proper grammar and punctuation.

The end of the module includes tools you can use to improve your professional writing. You’ll practice by crafting a short, professional email.
