The Digital Ambassadors CourseModule 2: Working with Adults

What you'll know and do to demonstrate strategies for working with older adults

You may have a variety of adults in your life that you interact with daily. The adult learners you’ll interact with as a Digital Ambassador will be different. At least the relationship you have with them will be different. It will be different from interacting with your parents, teachers, or others. The relationship you will establish with them will be a professional relationship.

That professional relationship also flips the more traditional age-based relationships you have with adults. You are the teacher or mentor or coach, and the older adult is the student or pupil. That can take some getting used to, both for you and for them. However, there are many programs in which young adults successfully build those relationships and help older adults become more savvy digital technology users. Here are some things covered in this module that will help you do that.

As you work through this module, you will:

  • Develop an understanding of the learning needs of adults so you can best meet those needs;
  • Identify and incorporate strategies to demonstrate professionalism; and
  • Establish a professional, working relationship with older adults.
