Assessing Knowledge versus Skills

When you are assessing knowledge (what people know), you need to determine whether your learner can remember or comprehend something you’ve taught them. They may need knowledge about specific technology concepts, vocabulary, or specific parts of a device or application. You can assess knowledge simply by asking questions.

You can ask your learner to identify key components. You can determine if they understand vocabulary by asking them to describe it in their own words. Assessing knowledge can often be done quickly and fairly easily.

When you are assessing skills (what people can do), you have to ask your learner to do something. That’s why these modules have multiple opportunities for you to practice and demonstrate your learning. It’s a chance for you and your teacher/coordinator to monitor whether you are developing skills necessary to be a Digital Ambassador.
