The Digital Ambassadors CourseModule 3: Designing LearningObjective 1: Use Instructional Design StrategiesAssess Outcomes

Determine Necessary Content

Begin with your final assessment task you just designed. You can work backwards from your assessment by listing any skills and knowledge that the learner may need to learn. This is the content you may need to provide for your learners to be successful. This process of listing all the steps for instruction is called an Instructional Analysis. One way to do this is to review your final assessment and ask, “What do they need to know and be able to do to do that?” As you come up with ideas, keep asking yourself that question until you get to a point where they’ve reached common knowledge that you won’t have to teach them.
