Consider all of the social media platforms that are available. You may not know all of the platforms available. You probably have a few that are your favorites. Which platforms will be the best for the older adults you work with? They may request help with a platform you've never used. How will you support them?
Please note: Teaching social media can be a complicated situation for young adults. You must be 13 years or older to create an account on most social media. Other platforms may have additional requirements. Using social media is also a negotiation between you and your parents or guardians. NCBCE is not endorsing any social media platform and does not encourage you to join one without full permission from your parents. Instead, this module will focus more on generalizations about social media and how to support older adults who have questions about them. Your Digital Ambassador team may then be able to develop experts on different social media based on their approved participation on a platform.
Here is a list of some potential social media platforms in alphabetical order. Your team may want to divide and conquer. You may also find others to review. You also don't need to join a platform to do research about it. Consider finding reviews from outside of the platform to get a better understanding of what it does
